Like most things, raiding is all about the fundamentals. If you get the fundamentals down, everything gets easier. Please read carefully the following fundamentals of raiding.
Wait on the assist call.
Every raider aside from specific people absolutely must make a Hotkey for the Main Assist.
- The macro for the Hotkey should read: /assist [name of MA]
- Every time there is a call for assist you click the hotkey FIRST then move to your other spells/combat arts. You will be targeting ALL mobs directly this way and you will always know who has aggro via your Implied target window. If there is no Implied Target then YOU have aggro. On almost every raid encounter this will be the standard.
If you get aggro, go to the Main Tank.
This helps in two ways.
- It fixes mob position as quickly as possible. Not positioning the mob correctly can wipe the raid.
- It helps the Tank get aggro off you.
Do not get ahead of the Raid Leader or the Main Tank, even if you know where we're headed.
Do not open doors or click on anything while on raid. EVER.
Always come fully repaired and supplied for the raid.
This includes food, drink, poisions, potions, and most importantly repair kits. Clarity potions make a difference, especially since we frequently lack power regin in all groups, and the common ones are cheap. Common stat potions give you a nice stat boost, and are also cheap. These are particularly handy given that, as a raid force, we still have a lot of gearing to do. IF you do not have a repair kit then repair kits will be available from officers during raids, you have the choice of paying 42 gold or 15 DKP for the repair kits.
Listen to the raid leader.
Unless there is a compelling reason NOT to do something you're asked, just do it and ask in tells later for an explanation.
Keep raid chat clear.
By this, I mean the /r chat, not the channels we use. We raid to have fun, and there is nothing wrong with carrying on in channel chat, but raid chat should be used sparingly so that when something critical needs to be relayed, it shows up clearly.
Get on Ventrillo.
This is still not required, but helps to keep everyone better informed as to what's going on, and will probably save you a few deaths (and coin).
